Pediatric Geneticist-Assistant or Associate Professor Clinical Pediatrics
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Clinical Genetics and Metabolism at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans, is seeking a full-time academic Pediatric Geneticist to join our genetics group. The Division currently is comprised of two geneticists, two nurse coordinator, one dietician and is actively recruiting genetic counselors.
Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (non-tenure, clinical track). The successful candidate will participate in a broad range of clinical genetics activities. Primary clinical responsibilities include inpatient consultations at Children's Hospital of New Orleans and the evaluation and management of patients in various outpatient genetics clinics. In addition to general pediatric genetics clinics, specialty clinics include neurofibromatosis, Down syndrome, craniofacial and metabolic diseases. The Division serves as one of Louisiana’s primary referral centers for evaluation of infants with positive newborn screens for metabolic diseases. The Division operates several outreach clinics in South Louisiana. Educational responsibilities include supervision and instruction of medical students, residents and other learners from the multi-disciplinary LSUHSC community. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the advancement of scholarly or educational activities within the Department. There are abundant opportunities for educational, clinical, translational, and quality and outcomes research initiatives across the health sciences center.
The Department of Pediatrics and Division of Clinical Genetics and Metabolism are located predominantly at Children's Hospital of New Orleans. Children’s Hospital is Louisiana’s only free-standing children’s hospital. The 247 bed tertiary care teaching and clinical care complex is located in the heart of New Orleans. Children’s is in the beginning stages of a 5 year and $225 million expansion project.
- MD or MD/PhD or equivalent
- Board certified/board eligible in Clinical Genetics
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana by start date
