Suburban Hospital, located in Bethesda, Maryland, is a community-based, not-for-profit hospital serving Montgomery County and the surrounding National Capital area since 1943. The hospital is a regional trauma center with centers of excellence in cardiovascular care, stroke and neurosciences, orthopedics and oncology. A 222-bed acute-care, medical-surgical hospital featuring all major services (except obstetrics), Suburban Hospital is committed to providing compassionate care in a patient-centered setting. Major services include a comprehensive cancer and radiation oncology center; NIH Heart Center at Suburban Hospital providing cardiac surgery, elective and emergency angioplasty as well as inpatient, diagnostic, and rehabilitation services; orthopedics with joint replacement and physical rehabilitation; behavioral health; neurosciences including a designated Primary Stroke Center and 24/7 stroke team; and senior care programs. The hospital is in the third year of a five-year, $270M comprehensive campus redevelopment project that will enable the hospital to advance the promise of medicine and serve the community’s healthcare needs for generations to come.
The VPMA/CMO reports to the President, Jacky Schultz and works closely with the President of the Medical Staff, the Medical Executive Committee, Department Chairpersons and clinicians throughout the hospital. The VPMA/CMO is responsible for Quality, Care Coordination, Clinical Informatics, physician relations, employed physicians, physician assistants, physician services and physician advisor.
