Coordinate and administer all aspects of employee leaves to ensure compliance with company policies, federal and state leave regulations, while providing instruction, guidance and excellent customer service to employees, managers and human resources professionals.
2 years related experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency in medical terminology and the meaning of medical procedures
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, 501 and 504 regulations and requirements
Experience with billing, scheduling, time and attendance and HRIS systems (Lawson) preferred
The Leave Specialist is a new position and will serve as the subject matter expert for all types of leaves, including FMLA and Military for both Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and the Penn State College of Medicine. They will interpret and administer leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.). In addition, they will ensure that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectively executed. You will work closely with FMLA and Disability vendors, managers and employees in the administration of leave program. Our preferred candidate will have working knowledge and at least 2 years’ experience with administration of leaves such as FMLA and ADA (Section 501 and 504) and be able to create a system to track, monitor and terminate leaves in a timely manner.
