The incumbent will deliver nursing care in an operating room setting. The delivery of care is in accordance with the established standards, policies, and procedures. The incumbent will use Reusable Medical Equipment (RME). The incumbent must be able to demonstrate competency and the ability to either set up or re-process Reusable Medical Equipment as applicable for all equipment for which trained. The incumbent will be responsible for the planning, executing, conducting and evaluating both direct and indirect nursing care provided during the operative procedure.
The incumbent will direct other nurses/surgical technicians when necessary, report any unusual occurrences to the surgeon in charge, document patient records, complete Hospital Incident reports, and will maintain count on materials and instruments used during the surgical procedure. He/she will serve as the scrub nurse when necessary and will perform the applicable duties in accordance with established policies and procedures. The incumbent must have excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of operating medical equipment, and must be proficient in utilizing a computer.
Work Schedule: As an Operating Room Nurse, your typical work week will be Monday thru Friday, 7:00am ? 3:30pm (for the majority of the time), with occasional Monday thru Friday 3:00pm to 11:30pm, or as needed to accommodate the operating room and patient care needs, in addition to random overtime (as needed) and rotating on-call hours.
