The Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics beginning April 1st 2018 or as soon thereafter as possible. The appointment will be at a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Faculty in our department maintain well-funded molecular and whole animal pharmacological research programs centered on diseases of endocrine, oncology, and nervous systems. Research is also underway in cardiovascular, renal and hepatobiliary disorders but the need to augment these areas is appreciated. In addition, opportunities exist for collaboration with clinical and basic science members of a number of additional research groups, including cardiovascular, renal, liver, oncology, neurodegenerative disorders, mental health, diabetes, regenerative medicine, and child health. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified individual to contribute to the ongoing success of the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and to create a new level of interdisciplinary research and collaboration in a department with complementary and diverse skills.

The University offers a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs embracing basic biomedical sciences, clinical medicine and population health. The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics has a rich history of research and graduate education in pharmacology and is committed to providing high quality teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels and professionally in the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy and Sciences, and in community outreach. Through its close relationships with clinical departments, the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics offers an outstanding opportunity to work with clinical members of the Faculty.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD and several years of postdoctoral experience with strong demonstrated experience in pharmacology. Areas of research of particular interest are cardiovascular, renal and hepatic pharmacology. Oncology research with a pharmacology focus in the brain and liver are also within remit. The new recruit is expected to teach and develop a rigorous and independently funded research program within the department. The candidate is also expected to develop strong collaborations in translational research with clinical departments.
