The VA Medical Center, Marion, IL is seeking a full-time, Board Eligible or Certified in Anesthesiology. The
physician will be responsible for direct provision of peri-operative anesthetic care to patients, including pre
operative assessment, intra-operative anesthetic, administration, and monitoring, and post-anesthesia care, in
compliance with national accreditation standards. The incumbent ensures the most effective delivery of
Anesthesiology services while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. Performs the administrative
components of patient care management such as dictation of progress notes, OP reports, and discharge
summaries. Participates in quality improvement activities. Participates in ward/ICU rounds, and any other
relevant activities. Fosters a high level of patient and staff satisfaction.
Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday,some night, weekend, and holiday call may be required.

- Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Board certified/board eligible Anesthesiologist to join Surgery Service.

Requires lifting 15-44 pounds; pushing (approx. 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking and standing from 3-5 hours and kneeling. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far visions correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other.
