The Senior Ability Analyst primarily investigates claims to make timely, accurate and customer focused initial and ongoing Long Term Disability benefit determinations using vocational, medical, and financial claim management. The Senior Ability Analyst supports our mission of helping our customers rebuild their lives after an unexpected event or illness happens while following corporate claim standards, policies, and procedures, and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements. Claim complexity varies depending on tenure in role, which may be inclusive of working with customers with behavioral health/mental illnesses and terminal diagnoses.
Work Arrangements: The Hartford is proud to offer a hybrid work location model that is designed to support flexibility. This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in our Hartford CT, office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Start Date: 1/27/2025
Training Hours: Core business hours M-F
Length of Training: 6 - 8 weeks
Work Hours After Training: Core business hours
Responsibilities:
Obtain information from the claimant, employer, and medical provider(s) to make Long-Term Disability decisions
Analyze medical and financial information to determine eligibility for benefits
Provide exceptional customer service using professional written and verbal communication skills
Maintain a dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
Help to create a positive team environment that is inclusive to all employees
Qualifications:
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain a high-level of quality and accuracy, while meeting productivity expectations
An ability to adapt to new ideas and situations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously
High School Diploma/GED is required
Please note that this position can be considered as a Segment 1 or Segment 2 Analyst depending upon experience and skillset.
INTERNET REQUIREMENTS: For full-time, occasional, part-time, or remote positions: (1) high speed broadband internet service (we do not support DSL, wireless, Wi-Fi, Hotspots, Fiber without a modem and Satellite). (2) Internet provider supplied modem/router/gateway must be hardwired to The Hartford issued computer with an ethernet cable (no Wi-Fi) (3) minimum 10 upload/100 download speeds are required. To confirm whether your Internet system has sufficient speeds, please visit from your personal computer and provide speed test results
Prior claim experience and/or medical background is a plus but not required

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$47,680 - $79,800
The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
