Summary:
Technical skills and abilities must include an above average knowledge of accounting principles and concepts related to financial reporting and budgeting and the ability to analyze, compare, interpret and suggest solutions to accounting and finance issues while maintaining great attention to detail and accuracy. Dedication to the timely completion of all tasks, effective listening skills and the ability to ask educated questions at appropriate times. This role is expected to: Work closely with Supervisor and Other Financial Leadership in maintaining Nursing day-to-day operations financially; Work well with operational management with timely communications and provide a customer service orientation of financial services to all constituencies; Reviews monthly financial results for Nursing Division for completeness, accuracy and reasonableness; Identify and recommend functions for automation as appropriate; Provide timely and accurate service to CNO, Associate CNO, Clinical Directors, Nurse Managers and other customers during the monthly close and budget process; Promote team playing within work group; Prepare ad-hoc analyses and variance explanations as assigned and in support of the month end close process; Support of Annual Operating Budget Process ; Maintains necessary schedules and documentation for monthly closings, quarterly reviews, and annual audit;Reviews financial data for accuracy, reasonableness, and completeness; Applies GAAP and HUP Financial Reporting Standards without exception; Provides assistance as necessary with special projects, operating budget, and financial audit; Provides financial support to Controller and Nursing Department as required
Responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly accruals for temporary labor and other unprocessed expenses for Nursing in conjunction with Managers and Clinical Directors.
• Provide analytical services and financial reporting for Nursing on a Monthly basis.
• Prepare accurate monthly journal entries for Nursing.
• Prepare and maintain detailed account analysis for assigned Balance Sheet accounts.
• Provide accurate explanations and investigate variances between actual and budget variances for Nursing.
• Develop ad-hoc analysis as requested by CFO and HUP Sr. Leadership Team.
• Complete bi-weekly DCHPPD reporting.
• Complete monthly productivity calculations such as DCHPPD, WHPPD and PHPPD.
• Support Nurse Managers and Clinical Directors in interpretation of monthly results.
• Assist with year-end financial audit specific to the Nursing Division.
• Assist with the annual budget compilation for the Nursing Division. Review submissions for accuracy.
• Assist in Hyperion Training Sessions and Prepare Training Documents.
• Assist Manager in analyzing financial data, handling of both day-to-day operations and new policies and procedures.
• Accumulate historical data and prepare key drivers for recommendation to leadership as starting point assumptions (i.e.: Pt Day spread by unit; Vacancy Factors; Non-Productive factors)
• Attend Nursing Division meetings and other committee meeting as assigned.Complete Special Purpose Fund Reporting for Nursing

Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
- CPA Preferred
- Education Specialization: Accounting/Finance Equivalent Experience: • And 0-2 years of work experience in a related field
