OVERVIEW

JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR OF NURSING                                                       
DEPARTMENT: LAW OUTPATIENT SURGERY CENTER
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF AMBULATORY SERVICE LINE 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Nursing (DON) is accountable and responsible, under the supervision of the Director of Ambulatory Services, for directing all peri-operative activities and total nursing care delivered within the facility.  This includes, but is not limited to, supervising and directing staff nurses and ancillary personnel.  The DON helps establish standards of care and policies and procedures and interprets to the entire staff, patients, families, and community.  The DON employs organizational strategies in a balanced approach that produces adherence to the organization’s established Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct.  The DOB demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

A graduation certificate from an accredited RN program, required Current license to practice nursing in Mississippi, required ACLS, PALS and BLS certifications and Moderate Sedation certification, required Minimum three (3) recent experience working in Surgical Service Management, preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Highly organized and detail oriented; particularly in regards to time management Ability to prioritize key objectives while performing daily tasks as well as the ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to effectively utilize applicable electronic systems and programs

Monday - Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00P.M.
