POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Informatics Analyst provides superior quality, competitive value and outstanding service by being responsible for designing, implementation, maintenance, and analysis of data from clinical informatics systems. Implements electronic health record (EHR) systems, bed management systems, computerized physician order entry systems, or any other relevant health information systems. Analyzes data produced by these systems to identify trends and areas for improvement and to ensure systems are functioning properly. Evaluates and recommends improvements to systems. May provide staff training on new or updated systems. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in informatics and/or nursing. Typically reports to a manager. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience in Health Care Administration, Computer Science, Business Administration or Information Technology from an accredited educational institution or 2+ years of experience in Information Technology or Informatics.

• Medical terminology and understanding of workflows are critical.
• Ability to compile, code and categorize, or verify information/data.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Implement applications, tools, and processes that assist clinicians with the management of data in patient care and the provision of health care.
• Maintains changes to referential data, across clinical applications assigned.
• Assists with application implementation and system customization including the development of alerts/hard stops, data integration, order generation, automation of document entry and enforcement of adherence to workflows.
• Provides technical support, diagnosis of application errors and troubleshooting with system issues.
• Interpret, modify, analyze and design clinical systems, data and information.
• Design and implement educational and clinical services programs, support end-user training.
• Facilitate clinical content team - work with other health care professionals to evaluate current EMR functionality and develop future applications by building consensus and using efficient decision-making processes.
• Recommends innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems.
• Assist with the configuration and setup of new users within the clinical systems as they relate to the EHR.
• Research patient data across multiple applications to resolve discrepancies and/or improve workflow.
• Serves as a resource person for daily operational issues within the electronic health record.
• Work with other members of the team to implement solutions to system related problems to minimize operational impact.
• Monitor and report quality data as related to the EHR and clinical software applications.
• Willingness and ability to learn and evaluate new information, both technical and procedural, and to disseminate both verbally and in writing.
• Experience with in-depth manipulation of data to assist with root-cause analysis, trending and summarization of projects presented to various level audiences.
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience identifying defects and improving departmental performance by supporting quality, operational efficiency, and defined business requirements.
• Experience managing projects across multiple departments.
• Engaged in meeting organizational goal set by executive leadership.
