Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Head of PDM Business Operations, and part of the larger Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing (PDM) organization, the Business Operations Program Lead will work with a team of program management professionals to manage cross-functional non-product projects within PDM.

The Business Operations Program Lead will serve as the portfolio tools / G.Plan (Planisware) subject matter and technical expert, as well as lead a small team of non-product project managers. This role will partner with the PDM Portfolio Operations Lead as G.Plan is implemented, supported and maintained.

FOCUS AREAS:
  • Responsible and accountable for managing cross-functional non-product programs/projects in PDM, starting with implementing G.Plan. This includes identifying user requirements, training needs, use cases and needed functionality from staff at all levels of PDM
  • Partner with PDM Portfolio Operations Lead to develop and implement G.Plan capabilities to support the required portfolio views of resource allocations, budget, resource projections, as well as timeline milestones.
  • Responsible for creating a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the G.Plan implementation
  • Develops forms and records to document program/project activities.
  • Monitor the progress of program/project and make necessary adjustments to ensure its successful completion.
  • Assist in ensuring that deliverables are on time and within budget.
  • Proactively alert leadership when there are risks or deviations from approved plan
  • Function as a facilitator between various teams and resolve conflicts as they arise using collaborative management skills.
  • Serve as people manager for a team of non-product project managers; Lead, coach, and mentor project managers at various career levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS degree in life sciences or relevant field and 12+ years of relevant work experience OR MS degree in life sciences or relevant field and 10+ years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Advanced degree and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of people manager experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
  • Substantial experience in Planisware functionality and implementation in biopharma required.
  • Experience using various project management tools e.g. MS Project, Smartsheet, Vizio, and advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively communicate and build relationships with a broad spectrum of audiences at all organizational levels.
  • Self-directed and proactive with ability to manage diverse stakeholders, exercise good judgment and respond quickly and effectively to changing timelines, requirements, and environments. Demonstrates exceptional influencing skills without direct authority.
  • Possesses excellent oral communication skills. Speaks clearly and persuasively; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Demonstrates good presentation skills; Proactively participates in meetings.

The salary range for this position is: $221,170.00 - $286,220.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
