The practice includes 9 locations in the San Francisco East Bay and 9 physicians.   The CAO will be based in the Walnut Creek office but expected to travel to the other locations as needed. Walnut Creek is a dynamic secondary financial suburban area with outstanding restaurants, culture, recreation, shopping and lower cost of living than other parts of the Bay Area. 

This position reports directly to the physician board and will work closely with one or two supervising physician partners.  The physicians are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care to our patients with diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous.  All of our physicians are board-certified ophthalmologists with advanced training in vitreoretinal surgery. In addition to providing high quality care for our patients, we strive to advance our field through growing our clinical research department.

Overall responsibilities include overseeing clinical operations including workflow and equipment; non-clinical operations including facilities and IT infrastructure; contracting with and managing payors, consultants and vendors; finances including accounting, benefits and insurance; human resources; marketing both internally and externally; compliance (including MIPS); revenue cycle including buy-and-bill pharmaceuticals; clinical trials department; contact center; surgery scheduling; and exploring, analyzing and recommending new business opportunities. The leadership team includes a Chief Financial Officer, Operations Manager, and Director of Revenue Cycle.

Upcoming Projects include:

  • Adding a new location.
  • Onboarding a new physician.

 

Skills Desired:  Strong experience with outpatient clinic operations and revenue cycle. Critical thinking with ability to conduct cost-benefit and strategic analysis. Ability to motivate, manage and retain staff with a strong workplace culture. Strong orientation to customer service. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with reports, staff as well as physician board. Multi-tasking and strong organizational skills required. MBA or MHA is a plus. Experience with buy-and-bill pharmaceuticals helpful. Ophthalmology and/or retina experience helpful.

Requirements: At least ten years’ healthcare management experience including experience working directly with physicians in a private practice setting.  Please do not apply if you do not have healthcare management experience.

Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with experience - Excellent benefits including 401K with profit sharing and cash balance plan.
