Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a talented Senior Analyst, Business Development to provide support for a full range of business development initiatives related to integration/access, growth/increased market share, and competitive position. The primary function of the Senior Analyst, Business Development is to provide high-level analytical support to the Executive Director of Clinical Business Development of ColumbiaDoctors and the CFO of Columbia Physicians and Surgeons and Columbia Doctors to achieve the financial and operational goals of the organization.
Responsibilities
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Assist in the preparation and review of business plans for new practices and/or lines of business
- Provide business plan training to department staff
- Monitor and track actual performance against business plan targets
- Serve as a resource to Department staff by providing guidance for preparing business plans, report writing, and analytical reporting
- Assist in fair market value review and proposal writing as it relates to leased physician agreements with NewYork-Presbyterian Regional Hospital Network
- Assist in the preparation of presentations on any of the above topics
FINANCE & OPERATIONS
- Prepare and review financial reports of practices (Profit & Loss statements, Billing reports, etc.)
- Design and direct the preparation of ad hoc reports to analyze specific operational and/or financial issues to help departments and physicians make decisions
- Assist in the implementation of approved recommendations coming from the practice assessment
- Assist in the performance of Financial and Operational assessments of the department (space utilization, staffing, etc.)
- Prepare practice monitoring dashboards, scorecards, and other reporting tools that accurately summarize key metrics
- Provides technical and analytical guidance to improve efficiencies within the organization’s analytical and reporting tools
MANAGED CARE
- Evaluate payer reimbursements to assist the Senior Director of Clinical Business Development in developing business plans
INTERPERSONAL
- At the request of the Senior Director of Clinical Business Development, represent the FPO at department meetings and act as liaison with outside agencies (billing companies, vendors, etc)
- Collaborate with other FPO staff to enhance the overall support services provided to the department through the design and development of new tools
COMPLIANCE AND OTHER
- Keep up-to-date on Legislative and Industry changes that may affect the manner in which we conduct business
- Serves on committees, task forces, and workgroups as assigned.
- Completes other assignments or special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalency in education and experience.
- 4 years of related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Advanced Excel Skills (VBA, Macro).
- Must successfully complete systems training requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Healthcare finance experience
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Finance, Economics, or other Business or Healthcare-related major.
- 5+ years of experience preferred
- Experience in data/finance-focused positions preferred.
- Experience with EPIC, Experian, and Cognos is preferred.
