The Health Information Management Manager Coder, Medical Records Clerk at Acute Rehabilitation Hospital of Plano is responsible for planning, developing and maintaining the Health Information Services department of the hospital in accordance with state and federal guidelines, accreditation standards as well as hospital policies and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Assist in planning, organizing, directing and maintaining Health Information Services in accordance with established policies, procedures, state and federal regulations and accreditation standards (i.e. HIPAA, Joint Commission).

Assist in establishing and maintaining procedures for the collection, coding, abstracting, filing and retrieval of electronic medical records.

Work with staff physicians in getting records completed within the required timeframe.

Serve as a resource for hospital administration and other staff regarding health information issues, rules and regulations and accreditation standards (i.e. HIPAA, Joint Commission).

Upload dictation, download transcription, distribute and mount final product.

Update electronic medical records incoming information through the scanning process.

Per organization guidelines, scan historical information into electronic medical records.

Responsible for internal and external requests for release of information.

Attach messages to patient records and deliver to appropriate individuals.

Pull and prepare files for auditors, as required.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

RHIA, RHIT, or CCS Certification required

2 years of HIM Management experience within a rehab setting preferred

Inpatient rehabilitation coding experience preferred

Wellsky and UDS experience preferred.

Excellent communication skills required
