Director – Faculty Group Practice

University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) – South Houston to Galveston, Texas
UTMB was established in 1891 as the first academic health center in Texas and is a component of the University of Texas System. Today UTMB includes five schools (medicine, nursing, health professions, public and population health, and graduate biomedical sciences), a network of hospitals and clinics that provide a full range of primary and specialized medical care, and numerous research facilities.

Director, Faculty Group Practice (FGP) – This Director will manage and oversight the daily operations within the Faculty Group Practice (FGP). Coordinates and directs numerous projects supporting the FGP, with an emphasis on staff coordination, policy and procedure development, strategic planning, and organizational analysis. Plays a key role in developing and executing strategic and tactical plans to enhance and optimize the Faculty Group Practice, including initiatives such as Crimson Market Advantage and referral growth strategies.

Candidates Essential Functions:

  • Works with leadership to develop and implement strategies for short, long-term planning and program development for the growth of the practice plan.
  • In conjunction with Leadership, implements strategies developed in the institutional clinical strategic planning process as they relate to the FGP and the Clinical Enterprise.
  • In conjunction with Leadership, provides oversight of clinical operational metrics and FGP administration meetings and agenda items.
  • Researches and identifies potential areas for clinical growth improvement opportunities.
  • Identifies, develops and implements strategic and tactical FGP and Clinical Enterprise business plans and projects in support of the UTMB Mission and Vision.
  • Executes job responsibilities demonstrating leadership, expertise, and creative approaches to management of developmental needs that contribute to the growth of the FGP.
  • Partners with the Ambulatory Director’s on various projects within the Ambulatory space.
  • Demonstrates a high level of productivity and dependability, with little or no supervision.
  • Serves on various institutional committees or user groups.
  • Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

Candidate Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in business (MBA) or healthcare administration (MHA) or other related field with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience. Seven (7) years of related experience is preferred. 
  • Related experience in Academic Medicine or a large medical practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Competence in dealing with a variety of individuals including physicians, researchers, and university administrators.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem resolution.

Income Package:Offering a starting salary of $140,000 - $150,000 plus incentives. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and level of experience. In addition, UTMB offers a superior benefits package, and an excellent retirement program.
