Purpose and Scope
Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice registered nurse responsible for providing primary healthcare and emergency services to cancer patients with a focus on Radiation Oncology. The NP manages the care of Radiation Oncology patients. Incorporating extensive knowledge of oncology, pharmacology, and disease processes, the NP exercises autonomous decision-making in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of delegated medical treatments and procedures by using guidelines approved by the oncological services. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the scope of practice includes family support and discharge planning, staff in-service education, research, and administration duties.
Graduate Accredited School Of Nursing Required and Bachelor's Nursing Preferred and Graduate Recognized Nurse Practitioner Program Required
Oncology Services experience required.
Licensed as Nurse Practitioner by the Virginia Department of Health Professions Required and Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions Required and Authorization to Prescribe issued by the Virginia State Board of Health Professions Required
