Exciting Addiction Medicine Physician Opportunity in Pittsburgh, PA!
Allegheny Health Network
The Center for Inclusion Health (CIH), part of the Allegheny Health Network (AHN), is seeking an enthusiastic, committed and well-trained Addiction Medicine Physician to provide excellent patient care to a diverse population of persons with Substance Use Disorders as well as other medical and social issues. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing interdisciplinary team as we continue to develop an integrated Addiction Medicine service line within the AHN system. The Center for Inclusion Health was created to address the needs of populations that have traditionally been excluded from health care due to social, behavioral and substance use issues. We have an active in-patient Addiction Medicine consulting service at Allegheny General Hospital and West Penn Hospital and plan to expand our addiction medicine services across the 8 hospital AHN system. Our Addiction Medicine Consult teams are made up of an addiction medicine physician, an addiction psychiatrist, a nurse practitioner, an RN, a social worker and peer recovery specialists. We also have a growing out-patient MAT program involving buprenorphine and naltrexone. Our services are not limited to opioid use disorder patients, and we routinely see patients with a wide range of substance use disorders. The education of residents, other health care providers and community partners is an integral part of our mission, as is research and evaluation. In 2017, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services designated CIH a Center of Excellence for Opiate Use Disorders (COE-OUD) to address OUD in Medicaid populations and was awarded funds to expand screening, linkage to care and medication assisted treatment within the health system. This funding has been renewed for second year. CIH was also awarded funds by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to expand treatment in commercially insured person with OUD and set up sustainable reimbursement for these services. These funds have allowed us to build strong, multi-disciplinary teams to address the issues related to the Opioid Epidemic across Western PA. We are also building a Hub and Spoke model for AHN that will incorporate an ECHO model for consultation across AHN’s footprint to rural providers seeking help with addressing SUD treatment as well as telemedicine services for direct patient care. We emphasize the role of integrated multi-disciplinary teams in medical settings to address complex physical and behavioral health issues through evidence-based practice, including medication-assisted therapy, naloxone prescribing for overdose prevention and other harm reduction treatment modalities. In addition to building an Addiction Medicine service line, CIH also has programs addressing HIV disease, primary care transformation (including the integration of MAT into routine primary care), integrated pain management centers, immigrants and refugees, and other social determinants health such as homelessness and food insecurity. CIH has developed a cutting edge Medical Respite program for persons who are homeless or have need for post –acute needs related to injection drug use related infections. In addition to a competitive compensation package – including paid malpractice, CME allowances, retirement benefits and more - the position offers research and evaluation opportunities, and an academic appointment. The successful candidate must be BC in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Psychiatry, and certified in Addiction Medicine through the American Board of Addiction Medicine (or other recognized certifying board or training program.)
