Located adjacent to the Anschutz Medical Campus, one of the largest and most advanced academic medical campuses in the country, CU Medicine offers a variety of administrative, technical and healthcare support career opportunities and serves as a resource for patients and healthcare providers.
We are seeking a highly motivated Vice President of Business Development & Planning to take on a leadership role within our executive team.
The Vice President of Business Development & Planning (VP) reports to the Executive Director and works closely with executive leadership of the CU School of Medicine (CUSOM) to drive the assessment, development and execution of business strategies designed to expand clinical services. The individual in this position will oversee and partner on the identification, development and execution of new business ventures; partner affiliations; network/market expansion; provider onboarding; and marketing. The VP will oversee and facilitate strategic planning, business development and external relations functions to support achievement of short and long-term goals. The VP will work closely and in support of the Dean of the School of Medicine, the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, CU Medicine Medical Directors, Department Chairs, faculty, and Directors of Finance and Administration as well as hospital affiliates.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree (i.e. MBA, MHA, or comparable) and be a proven high performing, strategic business development executive with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in progressively responsible strategic planning, business and network development, provider integration, and merger and acquisition roles. Expertise in healthcare is required and academic medical center experience is highly preferred. Must have experience analyzing and implementing broad-reaching strategies within a large, integrated system in a competitive market. The ability to successfully build partnerships and collaborations while demonstrating expertise in negotiating complex transactions is essential. Must be skilled in utilizing market analytics and financial analysis/modeling to make strategic business decisions. Strong background in project management with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced and intellectually-stimulating environment is key. High degree of comfort and confidence working within a matrix organizational structure and establishing/maintaining effective working relationships with all constituents across a complex landscape is required. Must display outstanding interpersonal, negotiation, verbal and written communication skills. The ability to build consensus among key stakeholders, including providers, employees, and leaders within affiliated health systems is essential. Demonstrated ability to build and lead a high functioning team is required. Requires flexibility and responsiveness to adapt decision-making activities in frequently changing situations. Experience in real estate evaluation is a plus.
