We are seeking a highly motivated Vice President of Business Development & Planning to take on a leadership role within our executive team.

The Vice President of Business Development & Planning (VP) reports to the Executive Director and works closely with executive leadership of the CU School of Medicine (CUSOM) to drive the assessment, development and execution of business strategies designed to expand clinical services. The individual in this position will oversee and partner on the identification, development and execution of new business ventures; partner affiliations; network/market expansion; provider onboarding; and marketing.  The VP will oversee and facilitate strategic planning, business development and external relations functions to support achievement of short and long-term goals. The VP will work closely and in support of the Dean of the School of Medicine, the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, CU Medicine Medical Directors, Department Chairs, faculty, and Directors of Finance and Administration as well as hospital affiliates.   

Scope of responsibility for this job will include, but is not limited to:

• Lead organization efforts to identify, evaluate, negotiate and establish partnerships as well as innovative relationships with external parties that bring complementary capabilities to CUSOM / CU Medicine while creating value for all parties (i.e. joint operating agreements, joint ventures, joint programs and affiliations).
• Develop and implement growth strategies and initiatives in partnership with CUSOM departments and divisions, including collaborative arrangements with affiliate hospitals and other healthcare systems, physician groups and organizations. 
• Lead efforts to identify, analyze and evaluate opportunities for new clinical services in the primary service area and throughout the region.
• Work in collaboration with CUSOM leadership to create a strategy/model to recruit/align physician groups with the CUSOM.
• Collaborate with hospital partners and key CUSOM providers to identify opportunities to grow services and increase market penetration through utilization of market research and trending.
• Understand and promote the collaborative relationship required to work successfully with hospital affiliates, including but not limited to UC Health and Children’s Hospital Colorado.
• Facilitate and oversee contract, lease and other legal document negotiations, preparation and approval.
• Evaluate and make recommendations on real estate opportunities for clinical service sites.
• Oversee and direct technical resources related to Salesforce, sites of practice and analytics tied to business development and planning.
• Provide strategic direction and oversight of marketing initiatives for CUSOM/CU Medicine, including but not limited to evaluating scope and return on investment, provider onboarding programs, advertising, tangible collateral, web presence, CUdoctors.com provider portal and social media in the seven state region. Partner with affiliate hospitals on data sharing and data delivery.
• Collaborate with medical directors to ensure provider/hospital alignment as related to business development functions.
• Ensure integration of CU Medicine services to CUSOM needs and initiatives while promoting the brand to internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide daily leadership to the Business Development & Planning team.
• Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
